My last school NDP parade.
My last song sung.
My last celebration today.
My school, my pride, the many wonderful memories.
All have been permanently installed into my tiny brain.
Its been four years since i was exposed to Cedar's version on how NDP was celebrated in school. UNlike the usual concert we have in primary school, Cedar was unique, cool and most importantly fun. Being a sec1 then, we gave each other weird eye stares, thinking that NDP songs were just too childish for us. We shut our mouths, and carried out our part time job-->stoning. Weird as it seems, yet as the years progress, though we have become more mature, we seemed to be more crazy too.
When you are in cedar, you will somehow get the hang of how cedarians does their community singing. We don't just sing, we shout instead. After shouting it comes to standing up. After you stand you jump. After you jump, you run till you become all sweaty and dirty.
The NDP outdoor segment was short. For the first time, its only less then 40mins. Anyway it was kind of cool as they did a different style of marching this year. The formation sort of changed. The only thing was that the YFC did not fly their planes. SO probability of crashing is 0 as there is no plane.
This year we had mass dancing. My partner was HAiYun. The dance steps are kuku. But when kuku people do kuku dance steps, the kuku dance will be a cool dance. Anyway i guess when physics teachers are incharge of organizing the NDP celebration, you will get exposed to many physic materials. In the mid way of community singing, the lights were off, and guess what. We on our cellophane torches, so the hall was illuminated with disco lightings. The decorations in the hall were all glow in the dark material too. SO in the dark, everyone sort of stood up. We went super crazy, and we started jumping shouting and waving the flag (I guess cedar is one of the only sec schools who issue flags to the students). Yupp, the flag. It seems childish, but at that point of time, its just the IN thing mann. We had poppers this year, and bubbles machine placed at the gallery. So we were all jumping to grab the bits of paper and trying to pop the balloons. GUess we are all had a sad childhood.
One thing bad about the celebration was that it was SHORT. We sang only 5 songs. But the good thing is, majority of the sec4s--majority guides stayed back. We did billibajang and the kuku mass dance again, this time with guides people. So after the crazy stuff, we cleaned the hall of the bits of colourful paper. Everyone swept the paper to some place, till it look as if like a bird's nest. Being kuku, i sat on that pile of paper. Then the next thing was that everyone threw paper on me.
Haha.NDP was fun.
Memories like this are cool.
CEdar i will never forget, for sure i will remember you for as long as i lived.
ThANK YOu!!
